Death Of The Republican Party

Published by at 7:10 am under All General Discussions,Stem Cell Debate

I had thought the Dems would be the ones to implode over the next two years, but it seems the Reps are the ones who will sell their soul and turn to dust. I simply cannot abide a party that kills human beings for spare parts, when there are no scientific studies using animals that show embryonic stem cells can prodiuce a single therapy.

Stem cells can become any cell in the body. Problem is the process to control that change is so complex it will make the 40 years it took to unravel the human genetic code look easy. Scientists have tried to sprinkle the cells into damaged areas in hopes nature would do the work. The result is cancer like tumors and disaster. The process of genetic transformation is very complex involving 20-30,000 genes and a myriad of bio-chemical and environmental cues and triggers to sequence the genes to create the final cell type (e.g. nerve cell, liver cell). That is why the application of the cells is failing so miserably. No controls

But now there is word that enough naive and gullible Reps are willing to throw away their sanctity of life mantle and give the Dems a veto proof majority on ESC research. Want to know the difference between abortion and ESC research? Abortion is the choice (many times a difficult one) by a mother regarding her new child. ESC Research is the harvesting of humans that are not yours, to make money on cures for rich people. Yes, people are sick. They are poor too. If we can kill them for both money and replacement parts all the better.

We cannot agree on immigration reform, where we treat humans trying to make a living with a modicum of respect (but with fines and back taxes owed), but we can pass a bill to kill young humans? The Republican party is a disaster. If they cannot protect the unborn they are of no value whatsoever in the political discourse of this country. If they will kill others to survive then it is hard to believe they will stand for anything other than their own self interests. After all the failures of ESC reasearch and all the successes using adult stem cells, and the fact animal trials have not been proven before human subjects are used (standard procedure on everything else) you would think they would have plenty of cover – which they do. Which means this move is completely avoidable – for those who care about life.

    AJ,
    Agree.
If we don’t respect our own kind, we don’t deserve the rights we claim for ourselves.

I ,for one, don’t identify with the earth worshippers that consider humankind as differing only in degree from the animal kingdom. They are trying to define our species down.
