Iraqis Attack al Qaeda In Fallujah

Published by at 3:02 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

If anyone doesn’t think the tide is turning in Iraq they missed this news where Iraqis opened a can of “WhoopAss” on al Qaeda in Fallujah:

Members of an Iraqi tribe along with local police managed to kill 39 al-Qaeda fighters in the town of Falluja, west of the capital city, Iraq’s state TV said on Tuesday.

The clash between the two sides resulted also in the arrest of seven more al-Qaeda fighters, said the TV station. Falluja falls within the al-Anbar province which has witnessed a marked escalation in recent times in the pursuit of fighters from the al-Qaeda by local tribesmen with the full support of local government forces.

This is a very monumental event for Iraq. If the Sunni’s in the al Qaeda stronghold start taking out al Qaeda (as I predicted they might after al Qaeda basically was left to only kill Muslims in chemical weapons attacks) then we have hit a major turning point. While al Qaeda cannot beat America in Iraq, only the Iraqis can purge their country of this scourge – and they seem to be doing a fine job of it. Thankfully Bush and others never lost faith in the Iraqis like the liberals did.

Update: Looks like Pakistani tribes are also turning on al Qaeda – not good for the terrorists who need sanctuary amongst Muslims if they are to survive.

Also, a source in Iraq (link is in Arabic) reports:

American forces liberated more than two hundred hostages yesterday in villages in the district of Muqdadiya the majority of which are Iraqi police.

In Diyala police source who wished to remain anonymous confirmed that American forces repositioned in the villages and Ashakragh Sensl close to the town of Muqdadiya carried out raids, searches and range of regions and the surrounding orchards.

He added that the American forces had found several prisons belonging to al-Qaeda and containing more than two hundred abducted hostages. The source explained that the majority of the abductees are the elements of the police who had been abducted at different times and over a period of months.

This is just horrible and does more than anything I have ever seen yet to show that the people we are fighting in Iraq are animals, they are not human beings:

WASHINGTON, March 20 (Reuters) – A U.S. general on Tuesday said Iraqi insurgents used children in a suicide attack this weekend, raising worries that the insurgency has adopted a new tactic to get through security checkpoints with bombs.

Maj. Gen. Michael Barbero, deputy director for regional operations in the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, said adults in a vehicle with two children in the backseat were allowed through a Baghdad checkpoint. The adults then abandoned the vehicle and detonated it with the children still inside, he said.

“Children in the back seat, lower suspicion, we let it move through,” he said. “They parked the vehicle, the adults run out and detonate it with the children in the back.”

“The brutality and ruthless nature of this enemy hasn’t changed,” Barbero said.

I am a father of two young children and this report makes my blood boil.

The Left has been saying for some time now that Al Qaeda only accounts for 3 -5% of our opposition in Iraq. I think we’re beginning to find out that it’s a whole lot more than that, both in terms of the numbers as well as the percentage of the total violence that they’re connected to. Even much of the sectarian violence is fomented by Al Qaeda fighters.

Looks like the Al Qaeda “fighters” are losing again. Just like they did in Afghanistan and Somalia.

Our soldiers have been working in the al Anbar providence for years getting one tribe at a time on board. Are our men and woman terrific or what? God love them. Thank you for your hard work.
