“Spineless” Defined

Published by at 9:28 am under All General Discussions,Iraq

The Democrats are so timid about the world’s threats they cannot wait to surrender Iraq to Al Qaeda and do their turtle thing back here pretending minimum wage for entry level workers is salvation for mankind as we know it. When faced with Islamo Fascists who behead innocent people on video for no other reason than to demonstrate their animalistic brutality, the Dems offer those terrorists we have caught in battle a lawyer and endless appeals in our court system. And this leftwing fear-thinking permeates the Europeans as well, who would rather spend 5 years trying one man rather than three years creating a new hope in the Middle East:

A Moroccan man convicted of aiding three of the four suicide pilots who committed the Sept. 11 attacks was sentenced Monday to the maximum of 15 years in prison for his role in the terror plot.

A German federal appeals court convicted Mounir el Motassadeq in November of knowingly helping the hijackers and sent the case to a state court in Hamburg for sentencing.

This is not swift justice. And with lawyers at his side he will not cough up information on himself, let alone his comrades. This is why we don’t have lawyers for prisoners of war – we have interrogators. But getting back to our spineless democrats, they are such whimps they are afraid to say they are afraid. They not only cannot face down our enemies, they cannot muster the effort to face down the voters. Check out how the Democrats ran from Ted Kennedy – just like they desparately want to run from Iraq (even though they aren’t there and aren’t doing squat to finish the job):

Shortly afterward, across town in the U.S. Capitol, the new Senate Democratic leaders took their place before the microphones just off the Senate floor to put forward their plan: a bipartisan, nonbinding bill called the Pale Action and Timid Gesture Resolution. That wasn’t the real name, of course, but it is exactly what Kennedy insisted Congress should not do. Afterward, I [John Dickerson] asked Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois what had happened to his own suggestion that Congress limit the number of troops that could fight in Iraq as a way to stop the surge. “That’s Senator Kennedy’s bill,” said the second-highest-ranking Democrat. Yes, but didn’t you suggest that troops be limited, I asked? “That’s Senator Kennedy’s bill.” You’re on your own, Ted.

Retreat, retreat, retreat. Do they have conviction on any issue? No. They only care about their fragile grasp on power. Dickerson explains:

In two days of reporting on the House and Senate side, it is clear that Democratic leaders are more worried about being tagged as anti-G.I. than being penalized by liberals for not doing all they can to end the war. Their posture may change, but for now, what seems likely is that the Democrats will do no more than put together a nonbinding resolution that would show disapproval.

There are reasons for Democrats to be cautious in challenging the president on Iraq. As Sen. Joe Biden argues, the president has the authority to conduct his war, so why provoke an ugly fight that the Democrats would lose and that would also expose them to easy caricature? Polls show that Democrats do still have to convince the country that they can be stewards of America’s national-security interests.

Spinelessness, like defeatism, is not a character trait of Americans. We are a ‘can do’ society. We break down barriers, we shake things up, and we are impatient. The impatience with Iraq and the ever paralyzed Republican Congress gave Democrats one slim chance. The Dems gave the impression there were easy solutions, that they had a Hail Mary play up their sleeves. There are no easy answers, and the Dems only idea is to lose to Al Qaeda.

But it is more than that. Democrats are absolutely tone death and completely out of touch with the average American – who is struggling day by day to make a decent living. Quitting is not an option for normal Americans and they don’t want to hear people with nothing to lose, driving around in chauffered limousines to their house here or house there, are giving up. They expected the back up squad to come in and make changes that would get our offense moving again. When was the last time Americans rooted for the bench to come in and lose a close game??? The Democrats are in their little liberal echo chamber and simply cannot hear anything else anymore. Which is why they are stumbling so badly. Instead of listening to Ted Kennedy opine about the 1970’s, we should be listening to the Iraqis. They haven’t given up and neither should we:

During my recent visit to Washington I found a nation fatigued by news of a faraway battle that seemed to creep closer with each fallen soldier. I found an administration wearied by infighting among an Iraqi government that seems incapable of reaching simple agreements. The chaos and sectarian destruction plaguing my people are slowly becoming just statistics in passing headlines, as we become a nation whose people spend more time each day preparing for death than for life.

Many Americans unfortunately believe that Iraq can no longer be salvaged. Even some in the Bush administration see a civil war as inevitable.

First, both of our nations have invested too much to walk away now. If this battle is lost, the entire region could be destabilized.

Second, despite the chaos in my country, not all bridges of patriotism have been burned. Iraqis have ties to their beloved country, not only to their sects and ethnicities. Proof of this nationalism recently came from the most unlikely of venues.

During the Asian Games in Qatar last month, Iraq became quiet, if only for a few hours. Citizens united as brothers behind the national soccer team, which against all odds fought its way to the finals. The team didn’t battle for a militia or a sect but for an idea — the nation of Iraq. The players didn’t win the medal but gained something far greater: They won us hope. From children on the streets to politicians to parents, we were all one, and we were all Iraqi.

We have been building up a new Iraq and we have met all our milestones. This fledgling democracy is only 8 months old as it awakens from 20 years of brutal totalitariasm. The people have shown their desire by risking life and limb in multiple votes over the years. Most of the country is safe and stable. And the regions that are still a problem have seen more and more Iraqis side with the government to expel Al Qaeda, Iran and Syria. These people deserve a chance. They deserve more than 8 months. And we, as a nation, started this and we must finish it. The naysayers who sit on their expanding backsides here in the US should be the last ones we listen to for advice. Iraqis and our military with first hand experience should be our guids. Let the whining liberals, who cannot even stand up for their own convictions, be left to their own little echo chambers. They are not listening anyway.

They want the U.N. to have the veto over nuclear proliferation? You simply cannot trust these people. They will hamstring the U.S. at every turn.

    Carol,

Don’t you think it about time to vote out ALL incumbents (House and Senate) for 3 straight election cycles and just start over? I know there are a few decent legislators, but I’d be willing to sacrifice them to get rid of the political trash.

This is unbelievable. And who are the 68 republicans who voted for this trash. But this is the world the democrats want. The UN governing us all. I am surprised they did not vote to join the international court. Then they could turn Bush and Cheney over to them for “war crimes”. But maybe since they did vote to start investigations they probably want that for themselves. What is their end product? To turn the whole US over to the UN and let them govern us? To throw out our constitution? Goodness knows they have twisted that to their own ends.

I thought this was a executive program. How can congress turn over anything in the executive to anybody?

I just want to take this time to thank all the Republicans who stayed home or voted democrat because they were mad at the Republican congress. I believe this is called cutting off your nose to spite your face.

    Chaos and Courage…

Almost two weeks into January of 2007, I have very mixed emotions about world events and about our country. Events in the world happen so quickly and news coverage on those events is almost instantaneous. The motto seems to be…
