Showdown With Iran

Published by at 10:34 am under All General Discussions,Iran

A nuclear armed Iran is not something the world can literally live with. If you look at my posts on Iranian nukes, you find that as far back as 2005 I felt the signs where there for There have been a lot of indications “on the ground” that the West is preparing to deal with Iran and the nuclear desires. There have been an increased number of naval vessels in the area. The talk of an Iraq ‘surge’ of troops could accomplish removing pressure from a very major source of the fighting in Iraq – Iranian backed forces and material. And Ralph Peters notes another obvious indication that time is running out on Irans dangerous game:

WORD that Adm. William Fallon will move laterally from our Pacific Command to take charge of Central Command – responsible for the Middle East – while two ground wars rage in the region baffled the media.

Why put a swabbie in charge of grunt operations?

There’s a one-word answer: Iran.

ASSIGNING a Navy avia tor and combat veteran to oversee our military operations in the Persian Gulf makes perfect sense when seen as a preparatory step for striking Iran’s nuclear-weapons facilities – if that becomes necessary.

While the Air Force would deliver the heaviest tonnage of ordnance in a campaign to frustrate Tehran’s quest for nukes, the toughest strategic missions would fall to our Navy. Iran would seek to retaliate asymmetrically by attacking oil platforms and tankers, closing the Strait of Hormuz – and trying to hit oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf emirates.

Only the U.S. Navy – hopefully, with Royal Navy and Aussie vessels underway beside us – could keep the oil flowing to a thirsty world.

Makes a lot of sense. Iran’s leaders are not just unstable, they seem prepared to martyr their entire country for the cause of Islam. Ahmedinejad has delusions of being in touch with the last prophet before Armeggedon. He has promised the end of Israel and the West. Iran’s armies include an army of terrorists who could disperse nuclear weapons to any point on the earth. Our intelligence states clearly that Iran is more of a threat than Saddam’s Iraq allied with Al Qaeda. Iran’s leaders must be taken at thier word that they plans to bring on the class of civilizations which will leave Islamo Fascists to rule the world. He is not kidding and neither are the Mad Mullahs.

This is a repeat of the Iraq situation on steroids. Warnings and diplomatic offers have been pushed for years now. The WMD capability is there and so are the ties to an army of terrorists throught the region. And like Iraq, a very simple and easy solution awaits Iran’s acceptance, while that nation instead threatens everyone they can think of. Time is running out on Iran and the Islamo Fascists. And if they do not reverse course, which they won’t, waiting for them to finish arming themselves so they can attack us is not an option. No government can allow a cear threat to their people to grow. Iran is a clear and present and groing danger. They say so themselves.

    Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

    Exactly how is that pronounced?

    Mama I’m a nut job?

  2. conesplif says:

For Enforcement: Your ignorance of economics is truly astounding. With oil at $150.00 a barrel – the entire system breaks down. Plan on eating fresh fruit ? be prepared to pay 10X as much for an orange – blueberries? think again. Farm raised salmon from Chile? too expensive to refrigerate and ship.

You act like you can just shift manufacturing anywhere you choose. Where’s the trained workforce – the infrastucture – the capital investment to set up the factories and buy the machine tools.

Thank god there are grownups taking care of details for you fools – so you talk tough and advocate irrational consequences are totally beyond your understanding.

And I’m not Ken – but I’m starting to like him the more I hear about him.

  3. For Enforcement says:

Conesplif(Ken), calling names, the product of a small mind that has nothing to say. When you can’t attack the message, attack the messenger. That your tactic?

Look, if the US economy has tanked, who’s going to be paying $150 a barrell for oil. China? with no market and no money (remember the paper they got from us is no good if we’ve tanked. Oil reserves in the ground, with no market if it’s pumped, who would pay to pump it?

I’m retired, as an executive from a major company plus SS so I’ve got an excellent guaranteed fixed income for life. And I live close enough to Orange trees, I’ll just walk out in my back yard and pick one. Salmon; don’t eat them.

Yep, I’m a fool alright, I’m the one with the excellent guaranteed fixed income in addition to tons of invested money in bonds that are guaranteed. Oh foolish me.

Nobody had problems shifting manuf to Mexico, Malaysia, Thailand China etc, almost completely seamless. If you think the econ of the US is going somewhere, it’s always going to be better than any other country in our lifetime, so why worry?

You think China would raise their prices if they have no customers?
You think their factories would keep running, with no customers?

    And I don’t understand economics?

  4. Military Changes Explained ……

AJ Strata has an insightful take at the likely strategic reasons for the Military Command changes at CENTCOM and in Iraq. From all appearances, it’s all about Iran–and that is a good thing ….

Meanwhile former Inelligence Analyst Spook86 weighs ….

  5. patrick neid says:

sooner or later we will have to execute the leaders of iran, syria, hamas, hezzbollah, al sadr and sudan. perhaps if we are lucky that plan is in motion now. 20 cruise missiles primed and ready as the fleet sails in place to keep the oil flowing. there is no need to bomb countries etc just the leaders need to go. the internal civil wars will take care of the rest. perhaps after said civil wars the middle east can transform itself from the 7th century to the 21st. thinking that this area can preclude these civil wars from their growth is like saying the US didn’t need our civil war in the 1860’s.

as to the price of crude it will spike above its old highs around $80 as the shorts cover, probably touch $100 before resuming its downtrend toward $40-$45 a barrel. that whole round trip will take less than a month–not even enough time to raise prices such that they have any economic impact. “oil” price fears is a canard trotted out by the folks that are afraid to force change on a demonic group of leaders in the middle east. that change is coming one way or another. iraq has always been just the opening act. iraq was chosen because it was dead center in this constructed killing field, it was flat, defendable, offered many airports and our northern flank was covered by the kurds. from a military point of view 3,000 dead and 10,000 seriously wounded was in the cold blooded parlance of military speak a reasonable cost to pay for the big picture–over throwing the murderous bastards that for the last thirty years have killed ten’s of thousands and mean to kill millions going forward.
we are either in a war or we are not.

    Regarding liberal trolls:

Arguing with a liberal is like mud wrestling a pig. The pig enjoys it. You get dirty. And soon, no one can tell you apart.

  8. For Enforcement says:

Headline and no story, the link is to the headline. Drudge does that regularly. He’ll find it sooner or later

  9. ivehadit says:

Mutual interest kept the world functioning during the “realists” eras. They are, however, responsible for much of what we suffer today.

During the reign of the realists, those who do not want our land, who do not want our military, do not want our treasures or trappings were allowed to fester and ferment below the radar….they want us dead. Period. There is no “mutual interest” except with those who also want us dead.

This is really a religious war with the radicals attempting to regain their long lost power…which would send the world back to the Dark Ages…where oil wasn’t even a blip on the radar screen…

I, for one, am not going to sentence my children and grand children to such a hell…

And isn’t it funny, that most of these terrorists love to come to enjoy America before they commit their cowardly deeds. They are sexually frustrated and deeply psychotic, imho.

  10. momdear1 says:

3,ooo dead and 10,000 wounded. The death and injured toll from crimes committed by illegal aliens in the US is higher than that. It is now more dangerous to live in the US than to be on the front lines in Iraq.

  11. patrick neid says:

and as you know mom, a fence won’t help that!

  12. For Enforcement says:

Patrick, a fence or nothing else without the desire to secure the border will not help that. Only about 5% of the elected people in Washington are even interested in a secure border. The remainder want an open border with no security. With that attitude, there will be no security.

That’s not my attitude, it’s theirs, I wasn’t elected (thank goodness).

  13. For Enforcement says:

Looks like that story on Drudge was about the plan Israel put together in 05 that was well publicized back then. He still doesn’t have a link, so it’s not clear if something new is up.

  14. The Macker says:

    Ivehadit,
    Agree.
There is no common ground with jihadists. Their madrasahs are churning out thous. It remains to be seen whether we can find enough Moslems willing to “live and let live.”

The Bush administration knows a lot more than it can say and Bush is a steady hand. Thankfully.

  15. The Macker says:

    Ivehadit,,
    Sorry.
“Their madrasahs are churning out” thousands of twisted young people, hating the west, blaming others for their condition and desiring to be suicide “martyrs.” And the demographics are on their side.

  16. For Enforcement says:

” The Colosseum in Rome was illuminated evening as part of Italy’s campaign for a global moratorium on the death penalty following the bungled hanging of Saddam Hussein.”
    http://www.breitbart.com/news/2007/01/06/070106220015.scoe89pg.html

Global moratorium huh? Day late and dollar short. Why didn’t they have a moratorium against Saddam killing the hundreds of thousands?
Would the moratorium apply to the terrorists? Would they have to suspend killing people also? If no, then that would mean their lives are valued above the ones they murder.
    NO MORATORIUM !!!!

  17. dbostan says:

    coci,
I was railroded by the FreeRepublic for being critical of Bush (for his border policies) and find extremely bad for the conservative movement.
If a grass roots org. (supposedly) censures, we are in deep doodoo.
Because the libs were supposed to behave like that.
So, where is the freedom of expression?
    Certainly not in the drive-by-media.

  18. crosspatch says:

I don’t see them lighting anything up when other countries have an execution. What’s so special about Iraq?

  19. conesplif says:

3,ooo dead and 10,000 wounded. The death and injured toll from crimes committed by illegal aliens in the US is higher than that. It is now more dangerous to live in the US than to be on the front lines in Iraq.

This is quite literally the stupidest thing EVER posted on the internet. Period. How about some facts to back up this horseshit? More dangerous in the US than in Iraq – that would explain why all the brave conservatives are here in the US tapping on their keyboards – while the cowards wearing flak jackets hide out in Iraq? Is that what you’re saying about the troops, Mom?

  20. misanthropic says:

    China Syndrome
This war has been going on for a long time longer than most care to think. If you look at China before the British opium wars you can see China is only now recovering. The Chinese are well versed in the art of war and have developed many strategies to defeat their enemies.

The one child policy was designed by a very highly decorated military scientist Song Jain. He clamed it was Malthus. The insistence of this policy by a military man points to a duel prepess strategy as most military things are.

Currantly China has 2.5 million officers and men and has very high retention rates many young Chinese men are choosing to become lifetime solders.

China will defend Iran there is no drought of that, Russia will also join in uniting the SCO and the Non-Allied Movement NAM in a global war against the capitalists. NAM has control of a lot of South America and the south pacific.

When you start to look there is most defiantly movement on the chessboard there will be a massive war if America attacks Iran. America will lose they lose on every scenario played out.
