Budget Deficit Drops Nearly By Half

Published by at 12:31 pm under All General Discussions

Interesting news out on the Budget deficit (the annual short fall of revenues to costs of running the government). Apparently the economy is so hot it nearly cut the deficit in half from the projection back in February:

The federal budget estimate for the fiscal year just completed dropped to $250 billion, congressional estimators said Friday, as the economy continues to fuel impressive tax revenues.

The improving deficit picture _ Bush predicted a $423 billion deficit in his February budget _ has been driven by better-than-expected tax receipts, especially from corporate profits, CBO said.

So our deficits are dropping like rocks, taxes are low, unemployment is low [down to 4.6%], inflation is low and the DOW is at all time highs. And the Democrats want to change the direction of the country ….

Yeah, right.

If this economy was under a democrat, can you imagine what the headlines would be screaming? Talk about downplaying the booming economy. I found it humorous that Paul Harvey told the rest of the story on his radio program today.

The quality of the jobs replacing jobs lost to free trade is
not up to snuff, AJ. But the pending defeat of the GOP
has more to do with the failed, unnecessary ,no-win ,based-
    on-lies…Iraq War.

  3. The Macker says:

    AJ,
Once again, the Laffer Curve is proven valid.

    Deficit Shrinking Quickly…

I wonder how the media will play this good news. Maybe they’ll headline it “Deficit Drops, Many Left Behind.” …

Ken is one of those gifted people that have the ability to wipe things out of their memory that are inconvenient.
He’s forgotten the World Trade Centers doesn’t exist anymore.
He’s forgotten there were over 3000 people that aren’t here anymore.
He’s forgotten that the Nafta deal was Clinton’s
and he also doesn’t have the ability to tell the truth, that’s why he is obsessed with claiming someone is lying. That’s the world he lives in where a lie is the truth. Since he doesn’t know the difference, ie, if someone says it, including himself, it’s a lie. That’s his norm. So in his world, if Bush is saying something, it must be a lie. That’s comes from his memory of Clinton, when sure enough, if Clinton was moving his lips, he most likely really was lying.
So Ken, to prove your point. Actually quote one lie that Pres Bush has said and then quote to us what the real truth is. Hint: a lie is something that you KNOW is not true when you say it. and spare us the WMD thing, by now we all know that the whole world THOUGHT that there were WMD’s and in fact as has been proven, there were. So at least have the dignity of starting somewhere else.

Sorry I forgot to ask about France and Give Jacque our regards.

  6. az redneck says:

Wow! Bush even lied about the economy. Off with his head!

  7. Policy Police says:

Where are the shiny new jobs Bush promised? The economy’s no better for me. I’m still out of work in this “booming” economy that doesn’t give young people like myself any opportunity to break into the workforce! Maybe if we invested a little more of our huge national capitol into research and development, there would be some openings for hard-working Americans like myself.

    enforcement,

lets not forget the two trillion dollor cut in the defense sector which then made it appear that clinton balanced the budget. it was a old carter trick. meanwhile program spending was up up an away……i’ll be the first to admit that the repubs having nothing to boast about either. bush can rightly take credit for his tax cuts that helped prevent a possible severe recession/depression after the internet bubble of the clinton era collasped right after the election. throw in 9/11 and future historians will rate bush’s performance with the gipper’s…….

Then while you have all that time on your hand try to get some training in a job skill or move to another area where jobs are available.

Where I live, companies are secreaming for entry level workers.

    Dear Enforcement,

I doubt that Ken is a Clinton liberal, because Ken is constantly raving about M. Albright.

I think he is far…far…far to the left.

He is probably in the far left, like the Maoists who have made common-cause with America’s terrorist enemies.

  11. Snapple says:

I doubt that Policy Police is a young person looking for a job.
Lots of placies are hiring young people.

  12. Ken says:

    For enforcement

Your “points” are all wrong so you have retained a nearly
    perfect record.

As to the WTC/Pentagon losses, have you called for harsh
prison sentences or worse for those who allowed it to happen?
I mean the kind of punishment which China would mete out
    to the criminally negligent.

If not, it is YOU who have forgotten.

I supported Perot then Buchanan, not Clinton, lax enforcer.
You’re the one with Nafta on your hands if you supported either
big business/ ruling class candidate, Dem or Rep.

The State Department own intelligence agency told Bush it was
extremely unlikely Saddam still had WMDs. Dissenting
intelligence…that which Cheney didn’t “encourage” many
agents into resubmitting after revising, said the same.

Read all about it in Sen. Bob Graham’s book-he was chief
of the Senate committee and announced at the time the
committee was receiving much intelligence saying the
same which the president was not telling the public.

Bush even told his cabinent members not to admit there was
an insurgency after being told by military chiefs there was.
Woodward lets him partially off the hook by saying he
believes Bush lied to himself about it, being an escapist
true believer, then relayed his self-deception to the public.

Most believe an objective lie is just that, however. And well
over half the public has believed Bush lied about the
WMDS since the release of the Kay Report.

  13. foil says:

Although I don’t agree with Mr. Kudlow’s latest call for Speaker Hastert’s resignation, he has been right about one thing; the american economic expansion from the Bush tax cuts has been “the greatest story never told”.

  14. The Macker says:

    AJ,
“Supply-Side” theory is a proven fact, within certain portions of the Laffer Curve. Kudlow is right on the economy. The good news is not being told. There are lots of jobs in Silicon Valley for the tech savvy.

  15. For Enforcement says:

Awww Ken, you disappoint me. The only thing you are able to say Pres Bush lied about was WMD’s. Didn’t I ask you not to bring that up. I’m not even going to bother to link you to the thousands of links about the WMD’s that were found, even you already know about them.
But as I said, you are living in a dream world where truth doesn’t exist so we couldn’t really expect any more out of you.

Well at least you didn’t disappoint us. You did a reasonable (for someone that doesn’t know what the word truth means) job of coving the loony left talking points.

How’s Jacque doing? you could at least give us an update sometimes.

  16. Ken says:

You don’t even know the definition (military) of WMDs, FE ,or you wouldn’t delude yourself with lies even Bush doesn’t stand behind.
    Thousands of links worth.

  17. For Enforcement says:

Ken, it’s a good thing you joined the Loonies, you would never make it as a comedian.

Whoops, I may be wrong, I’m not sure you ‘joined’ the loonies, you may have just been with them all along.

  18. wiley says:

    Ken,
Neither the State Dept nor the IC doubted Iraq had WMDs until well after the Iraq War. And for good reason — he had them. True, we haven’t found the stockpiles expected, but we did find them and found evidence of programs that could churn out WMDs within months. Plus, every intelligence agency in the world agreed he had them, because he did.
I’m not sure why I wasted 5 mniutes typing this since you’re so ignorant to govt mechanics and true facts, vice one-sided CYA books lefty blog sites.

  19. Mark_for_Senate says:

Ken is purely STUPID. Not ignorant. STUPID. Ignorance can be corrected through education. Ken is obviously incapable of learning. The quality of tin foil is excellent during this booming economy.

  20. Ken says:

Wrong on all points, Wiley. The State Department’s adjunct
intelligence department did NOT affirm Saddam had WMDs.
Hans Blix said by the time his last visit occured,he no longer
believed. Scott Ritter testified the CIA knew better and were
used as political pawns-saying so before the war and being
    proven correct.
