Did Fordham Out Foley To Aravosis?

Published by at 4:26 pm under All General Discussions,Foleygate

Our reader Enlightened referred us to this July, 2004 story about the Gestapo like efforts of Mike Rogers and John Aravosis to threaten and blackmail gay staffers and elected officials to take sides they wanted on certain bills being debated – especially the Federal Marriage Act. One of the first staffers had this to say about the tactics

Tolman said he questioned the morality of the outing campaign.

“The agenda behind this outing seems to be kind of fascist. It says to me: Because you don’t subscribe to our personal idea, because you don’t choose to push sexual politics over environmental, we’re going to punish you.

Well, there are other things you can acquire through blackmail. But this article clearly states the person who ‘outted’ Rep Mark Foley was his Chief of Staff: Kirk Fordham:

Over in the House, Republican Mark Foley said in March that he would vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment — one week after his spokesperson said he would not take a position on the measure until it came up for a House vote.

Despite Foley’s FMA opposition, Aravosis purported to out Foley as well, taking him to task for supporting President Bush, who endorsed the measure late last winter. Labeling Foley as “our latest closeted gay hypocrite,” Aravosis said Foley made the list for putting politics ahead of his own community by “whoring for an anti-gay president.”

Aravosis said he obtained the latest information about the five-term congressman from Foley’s former chief of staff, Kirk Fordham.

Fordham denied ever speaking with Aravosis and said, “I just don’t discuss Congressman Foley’s personal life with reporters, but I’m not sure what their motive is in outing him, other than to draw attention to themselves. Foley has a good track record with gay issues and opposes the FMA.”

Now who in their right mind would call Rogers and Aravosis ‘reporteres’? Is this a Clintonesque denial? Why would Aravosis claim it was Fordham as his source? What would be the motivation?

Kirk Fordham claims “he told House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s office about worrisome conduct by his former boss, Rep. Mark Foley, toward teenage pages more than three years ago, long before officials have acknowledged becoming aware of the issue.”

Strange because in an AP Story from 9:46am EDT this morning it quotes:

“I was still pretty shell shocked myself,” Fordham said of the day he learned about the messages. “This was someone I had worked for 10 years. I had no inkling that this kind of blatantly reckless – just obscene – behavior was going on behind our backs.”

    AJ,

You are doing a great job. My name is J. Rooney, and I am the one that wrote the following at Macsmind (jrooney) and here (roonent1) this morning. How it ended up at Gateway Pundit is a mystery to me:

QUESTION – Did Fordham have acccess to Foley’s IM account information, screen name and password? Very likely. Could he have passed this information onto Aravosis and Rogers? Very possible. Could some of the IMs been manufactured then by Rogers or Aravosis, those being reported by ABC. Probable.

We know someone logged onto Foley’s IM account yesterday when he was in a treatment center for 20-30 seconds, according to Fox News. Could this have been Rogers or Aravosis

I believe now that Fordham is gone, resigned or forced out, that my question carries more weight. Why would Aravosis claim he received the information from Fordham if he had not. How would Forhan know Foley was IMing former pages that had already gone home, unless he knew Foleys IM screen name and password. I highly doubt Foley would IM these teenagers in front of Fordham. Fordham now is mad he is gone and is lashing out to try and cover his tracks with Aravois. Coincidently, he is now claiming he told REP leadership three years ago, about the same time Rogers came into possession of IMS from Foley. Yeah, now that is too much of a coincindence. Something stinks here big time.

This definetely needs more following up.

    Thanks,
    J. Rooney
