Its A Crime Against A Child, Not A Seat

Published by at 4:47 pm under All General Discussions

Just a few comments about Rep Folely’s resignation due to apparent sexua overtures (and who knows what else) against 16 year old male interns. First off, Folely should be charged and do serious crime if proven guilty. Second, the crassness of the media and democrat supporters is tasteless. We have a serious crime against possibly many children by a sick excuse for a man. Why is the WaPo only interested in a possible Democrat pickup verses the victims and the crime? Is there any better example of screwed up priorities?? Get a life and realize this is not a seat but a serious crime.

All I can say is thank you AJ. I have been waiting since this story broke to hear someone leave politics aside and address the issue of the children.

  2. Retired Spook says:

The biggest question is whether Republicans can replace Foley on the ballot.

This would not be a problem if it were a Democrat in New Jersey.

I’m sorry, AJ, I just couldn’t resist. You are correct in that the last thing anyone should be thinking about is who wins the seat.

I understand this complaint was made in August of 2005. Surely the recipient in Congress could have made it public earlier than weeks before the election if the desire was to protect children from a potential pedophile. One has to think politics , not care for kids, impelled him to sit on it until now.

  4. Barbara says:

Why do the people in congress think they can get a pass on all crimes from hitting policemen doing their duty, sex crimes against minors and outright crime ala William Jefferson and what-his-name Molloson? These people should be arrested and tried as if they were you or me. They have no special privileges under the constitition. Why in the hell are they still walking around free and not only that but still in congress? Republicans are doing time for the same sort of crimes, why not democrats? William Jefferson, for example, was caught absolutely with the goods, but nothing has happened to him.

    Clarice:

Absolutely true. That is what makes it so much worse. I hope Rep. Foley gets all that should be coming to him and hope that this young man is not scarred for life.

Politics be damned, there is right and wrong and perhaps it is time that we as a society return to that belief.

  6. DaleinAtlanta says:

AJ: this is a sad affair; if what I read of the IM’s is true, then, he’s a criminal, and he knew it; which means he got away with it before!

That said, I admire you trying to take the high-ground, but it’s not completely going to work, because the “other side”, won’t let you.

In the run up to this election, we’ve seen this already:

    a) leads of Classified Information, “cherry-picked” by Leftists and/or their supporters in the MSM, to damage the President, his party, and the War effort

    b) Leftst nutbag “journalist” Bob “I see dead people” Woodward’s new flight of fantasy, designed, again, to damage the President and War effort, as much as possible

    c) a leak, by a Democratic Prosecutor, of a Rep Congresswomen’s PRIVATE telephone calls; in an effort to damage her re-election bid!

    d) the Leftist MSM, making an issue out of a Rep Senator’s MOTHER’s religious/ethnic heritage, as IF it was relevant, and thus totally proving their anti-Semitism; and then, bringing forth clearly bogus witnesses, including a supposedly “non-partisan” Political Scientist” with anonymous and/or partisan accucastions of racist comments and actions!

    e) and now, the Congressman Foley issue, when this was supposedly referred for action, almost a YEAR ago!

Does Foley deserve what he gets? Yes!

Is this about a “seat”, because of above, most sadly, YES!

AJ; you know the difference between Republicans and LEFTISTS on this issue??

Both Republicans and Democrats have flawed people, and even criminals in their ranks; witness Randy Cunnigham, Foley, and our favorite “cash in the fridge” Congressman from LA.

But the difference between Republicans and LEFTISTS on this issue, is that Republicans, at least, feel SHAME, and RESIGN, when they should! See Livingston, Delay, Lott, etc.

LEFTISTS REVEL in their shame and criminality, instandly declare VICTIMHOOD status, become “rock stars” to the Moonbat Colony, and REFUSE to admit guilty, shame, or RESIGN! Witness CLINTON, Frank, Jefferson, etc. etc.!

That’s the difference, and where I come from, it’s an IMPORTANT one!

  7. smh10 says:

    Dale:

While agree there are very basic differences between the actions of the left and right, I would much prefer to be on the side who does show shame or pay a price for their actions . ( While I admit many times the punishment is media driven.)

We know many on the other side have learned well how to play the if it feels good just do it game and unfortunately we will see another generation being raised to do the same. With the MSM at their side, many on the left have walked away from crimes without so much as a whimper and it is infuriating to all of us, however, there is one thing we can do to make certain this attitude does not continue to spill over to the rest of the population…VOTE.

We, thankfully do have voices now in the blogs who do the hard work of fact checking and reporting for us..the least we can give back is to exercise our right to choose our representatives in Washington and hopefully stop the tide of criminal behavior which occurs on both sides of the aisle.

  8. Terrye says:

They are just people, they are not human, they screw up and do bad things just like everyone else. I do not doubt that someone sit on this until the right time, just to effect the election…but if Foley had not put himself in the situation it would not have been an issue.

  9. Sue says:

Was Foley aware one year ago that this had been referred for action? If so, the blame for this whole sorry business rests squarely on his shoulders. The act and the delay in his resignation.

  10. DaleinAtlanta says:

Terrye & Sue: I agree with your points: Foley put himself in this situaiton; and Foley is a lunkhead, and the Rep leadership should’ve forced him to resign a year ago, IF they knew about this!

Terrye, I don’t know if you’re implying it though, and so I won’t say you are; but I’ll just say, that soliciting a younger-than-18-year-old for sex, is NOT a mistake, that’s Michael Jackson BS; he knew what he was doing, and he deserves whatever he gets!

It’s like those crazy “gotcha” Sex sting programs they have a couple of times of year, on NBC I think!

They get the people to pretend they’re underaged boys/girls, and then set up the appointments, and catch 30+ paedophiles everytime!

Every single one of them, that I saw, KNEW what they were doing, pre-meditatedly did it, then as soon as they are caught, they all say it was a mistake!

    Bullshit!

If you read the copies of the text messages over on Drudge, this Congressman sounds EXACTLY like those sickos caught on those programs; it’s a pattern of seducement of underage boys/girls, and they all seem to know the same damn script!

    It’s a sickness….

  11. MerryJ1 says:

Huh. My bad. I just deleted a lengthy, “let’s not jump…” after catching a news report about the content of the Foley e-mails. You’re right, AJ, this is not about “a seat.” Looks like good riddance.

If the GOP leadership didn’t take him down as soon as the offense was clear, shame on all of them. Double ditto on the Dems if they knew about this but waited for election season to try to hit paydirt with it.

  12. Barbara says:

Sorry, I didn’t realize Foley is a republican. Not that it matters. He should have resigned last year and he should be up on charges. Republican or democrat, this is just sick.

  13. AJStrata says:

    Barbara,

You have the right perpsective. The guy is a predator. Because he headed efforts to stop the exploitation of children, he knew how law enforcement caught these sickos and was able to work around those protections. He needs to be prosecuted for what he has done. I get the feeling that the explicit emails are only the tip of the iceberg here.
