In MD, No More Being Taken For Granted

The Black revolt in the Democrat party is about to start in MD. Rep Lt. Gov Michael Steele is running against the classic white democrat in a race for the US Senate. Steele, an African American, is the perfect candidate to leverage Black power in the Republican Party (which needs good, strong Black leaders). The Democrats have only one answer: vote for us white guys and we will promise to give you something later. Why? There is no reason for Blacks to stand aside one more time when there is a perfect opportunity for real power over in the Republican party. So I am not surprised that Black Democrats in MD are fed up and openly supporting Steele – which will ensure a Black leader in the US Senate:

“Like so many people who have come out today, I’m sick and tired of being taken for granted by the Democratic Party,” said William H. “Billy” Murphy Jr., a Baltimore civil rights lawyer who hosted the “Steele Democrats” event at the Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center.
“I’m sick and tired of being relied upon for support but not respected as a leader,” Mr. Murphy said. “It pains me that I would stand here … today in rejection of my party’s refusal to embrace us in its leadership. But I am happy to be doing that for Michael Steele.”

Right now I see MD and NJ flipping to the Reps. MD because it is time for MD to recognize its strong black middle class and its inherent leadership (I work in MD and I can tell you it is well past time!). NJ will flip because NJ doesn’t deserve another corrupt, incompetent representative – they have more than their fair share.

I think my source on this was opinionjournal’s “Best of the Web,” but I’m not positive; but the report was that Maryland Democrats are livid and just going bonkers over Steele’s bumper stickers, which are showing up on a lot of bumpers, “Steele Democrats.”

You have to love the humor, and the Dem’s lack of same just about says it all. Oh, ok, I can see where they might not find that funny.

I was listening to NPR News and Notes, a self described black oriented program the a couple of weeks ago and they had some people in their roundtable segment saying the the Nagin/Jefferson dynamic duo performance was causing a backlash amoung some normally strong dems supporters in the black community. They also thought that the dems seemed to be taking them for granted and spending too much effort courting the hispanic vote. The solidarity may be cracking.

The emergence of candidates like Steele, Swann and Blackwell is great and part of a trend. These guys are bright successful and it is no surprise that the GOP can pick up a good chunk of high income minorities.

Underlying another part of that trend is the issue of immigration and border control. The number of voters is much, much bigger. What group is most hurt by illegals working at low skilled, low paying jobs? Inner city poor and teens looking for a first job. Quite few of those poor are black and willing to work but face a tidal wave of competition willing to work off the books for cheap wages and no benefits. The dhimmicrats are undermining a major constituency with their La Raza alliances.

The GOP should focus on bringing legal citizens into the party rather than courting lawbreakers because of a fear they will vote at some time in the future or illegally right now..
