Lefties: No Threat Even After UK Airline Plot

Published by at 12:16 pm under All General Discussions,Iraq

The liberals are beside themselves with the realization their marginal views are just not cuttting it in the national arena. They have gone from questionable to crazy as they attempt to claim there is no problem in leaving Iraq to Al Qaeda so they can use that country’s national resources and educated population (Iraq has one of the highest literacy rates in the ME and is comparable to the West) to threaten America.

It is one thing for those Democrats, like Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, who admit that they bought into the Bush administration’s lies about Saddam Hussein’s alleged nuke program and partnership with al Qaeda and who now seek to make amends by working to bring the troops home. It is quite another, as Lieberman has, to continue to defend as wise this patently absurd betrayal of the public interest. And it moves from dumb to evil to claim that those, like Lamont, who dare tell the truth are giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

“I’m worried that too many people, both in politics and out, don’t appreciate the seriousness of the threat to American security and the evil of the enemy,” said Lieberman on Aug. 10, an enemy “more evil or as evil as Nazism and probably more dangerous than the Soviet Communists we fought during the long Cold War.”

Such hyperbole is not only historically ridiculous — More evil than Adolph Hitler and his extermination camps? More dangerous than the Soviets and their thousands of nukes? — it is a cynical attack on the free debate that is supposed to inform our nation’s leaders. The Lieberman-Cheney axis insists that not only are those who disagree with them traitorous or, at best, naive, but also that any and all military action conducted in the name of fighting terrorists is, by definition, good.

Truth is not owned by one side. The left screams everytime someone challenges their world view – which is the antithesis of democracy. Iraq was never about 9-11, it was always about derailing future 9-11s. This has been the big item the left has missed from day 1. Being in the ‘law enforcement’ mindset, the concept of preventive actions (verses punishment for past acts) always flies right by them. They have never understood Iraq was all about where future 9-11s might eminate from given the success Al Qaeda demonstrated.

The left’s unending efforts to surrender from day 1 of the Iraq action does embolden the terrorists who need the left to win the argument and pull the US out of Iraq. This not calling lefties treasonous – it is simply and accurate observatoin that the terrorists BENEFIT from what the left are whining about. It is not treasonous to be wrong. And neither is it patriotic. The left needs to stop crying about being challenged. They are not being silenced. We hear them just fine. They are being shunned. And they need to get used to the concept. Because no one is going to believe, after what we learned in the UK Airline Plot, that the world would be safer with Al Qaeda controlling Iraq (and the NSA barred from listening in on them and the treasury department barred from monitoring the oil dollars being piped to agents here in the US). It is the complete idiocy of the left’s incoherency that is causing them all these issues. Their ‘truth’ is completely unrealistic and unbelievable.

Ask the Kurds if it is historically ridiculous that our current enemies are arguably/potentially are as or more evil than the Nazis. Also, anyone who does not think a nuclear armed Iran is more dangerous that the USSR is fooling themselves.

Stating an opinion that many people don’t understand the seriousness of the threat is hardly an attack on free debate.

Well Hitler was just a loud mouth once upon a time and Stalin was just a brute. They were not born into this world as mass murderers. Now when I read one of Osama’s fatwas and read a translation of Ahmanijehad’s ravings it occurs to me that this is what it was like before Stalin was Stalin and Hitler was Hitler.

To be treasonous, you have to do something. It is not enough to hate one’s country. (They would argue, the extremists, they love it, they just hate the majority and the way it is today.)

I follow what these Islamists are saying. I followed what Hitler was saying in retrospect. The Islamists are standing on his shoulders. They even stand on the shoulders of the Communists. Their rhetoric is much more vitriolic. Much more. What did we see and hear of the Nazis or Communists before they really did anything? (And, for the record, it started with Lenin, not Stalin.)

What does the Left ever see of any of this, though? They see some flag burning and sign waving sometimes on the nightly news. They put their heads deeply in the sand. And we know what these types of people really are — cowards.

I would not expect them to be truly treasonous until their cowardice is put to the test.

I think the left knows how weak their position is, but it is the only thing they see as a possible Hail Marie offense. They are risking using a divisional position to try a final desperate thrust to achieve some kind of political gain.

I believe they also realize, that if the electorate as a whole rejects their smoke and mirrors move, they will be hard pressed to recover in any near term timeframe.

I don’t know the outcome, but I suspect that if it is a total downside over the next two election series, the left knows they will have to at a minimum totally purge their leadership and refocus or they will “stay their course” and have an emboldened right given an excellent chance to start taking pot shots at the lefts most out of the mainstream special interest agendas. If the left does a purge, the most marginal of the special interests will be shown the door, since after election analysis will show they were a lot of baggage with too little benefit.
