Closing In On Bin Laden?

Published by at 10:20 am under All General Discussions

If the UK bombing plot was a top Al Qaeda effort to become relevant againg prior to the 5 year anniversary of 9-11, then those caught up in the plot may be leads to Bin Laden and Zawahiri. Brian Ross at The Blotter has news of a new Al Qaeda arrest in the plot and the possibility of leads to the world’s two top most wanted. Check it out.

I will check that out and hope it is true. It would be poetic justice to catch those two on the eve of the 5th anniversary of Sept 11th.

In the meantime, I heard just a few minutes ago on WABC in New York that a federal judge in Detroit has ruled the NSA terrorist surveillance program unconstitutional and has ordered the NSA to cease and desist. What happens now? Clarice? Anyone? I haven’t seen or heard anything else about this yet, but it is my understanding that it was just out.

The NSA is actually a military operation. The President can order the NSA to continue on while under appeal.

However, even if the Supreme Court ruled against the President, he could tell them to go urinate up a rope. (See Lincoln during the Civil War.)

Hooray! The Pakastanis are not so delicate in their questioning as we and have no SF or Detroit judges to help out. Wonder if CIA has some second-hand waterboards–or is that too tame?

    Patch,

Of course the NSA will continue because it is part of the military and its job of listening in on our enemies is not open to judicial review. The problem is how will the NSA convey the facts there are potential terrorists in the US? Will we need to declare areas of martial law now that the libs took the courts OUT OF the loop regarding military intel? How else to stop a possible attack in time if law enforcement is off limits?

  5. Top Al Qaeda Leader Arrested In Pakistan…

If true and if he is as important for Al Qaeda as the article claims, this could be an important catch. Hopefully he will be able to provide interrogators with information about Al-Zawahiri’s and Bin Laden’s whereabouts….

I have seen Rehman characterized as the guy who holds the AQ Roledex, the dude with the list of all the trainees. Figures someone in the group has to manage the list so it may be him.

However the top two have been using cutouts to communicate even with him, and he probably supported that so he truely would not no where they are if he was compromised.

I see CAIR is one of the plaintiffs in this lawsuit. Why am I not surprised? If there is an attack due to the loss of this surveilance the backlash on the muslims will be terrible. Cair does the American muslims no favors.
