Fly By 05/19/06

Sorry for the light blogging, but we are on family trip to say farewell to a family member. The services were impressive and had representatives from law enforcement, veterans and politicians from all levels of state. I would go into it more but that would risk my anonymity, so let’s leave it there. Due to the lack of time, a Fly By is definitely in order this morning.

On Gen Hayden’s testimony, the Democrats have hit a brick wall because until they have an actual victim of overzealous terrorist monitoring, their hand wringing just underscores their image as confused on national security:

Hayden said he decided to go ahead with the terrorist surveillance program in October 2001 after internal discussions about what more the NSA could do to detect potential attacks. He believed the work to be legal and necessary, an assertion Democrats and civil liberties groups have aggressively questioned.

“The math was pretty straightforward,” Hayden said. “I could not not do this.”

Emphasis mine. The math is very straightforward, and it equals massive numbers of dead Americans. Everytime a Democrat tries to question the ‘legality’ of the NSA efforts every sane and serious American who is not absorbed by partisan fever is asking “what about the lethality?” Hayden, and by extension President Bush, are getting incredibly positive imagery every time they put national security over popularity or cheap political points. Look at this sentence and think about the reaction:

Hayden declined to openly discuss the reports, saying he would talk only about the part of the program the president had confirmed.

My reaction is “thank you for NOT playing poiltics with this, sorry you have to put up with these self absorbed fools, hope you can get back to the front lines of our defense soon”. And then we see Sen Levin trying to expose more details of our defenses:

“Is that the whole program?” asked Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.

This is why these hearings, and the reporting on them will be a lift to Bush and his administration, the dems and the liberal media cannot control themselves. They have to look like what they are: people so obsessed with election polls they ignore or forget all about the bigger purpose of government – national security.

And while dems and the media expose their total disregard for security, Sen Reid comes out attacking Americans as ‘Racist’, in what has to be the biggest political mistep in a generation (yes, outdoing Gore and Kerry and Clinton):

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid called a proposal to make English the official language “racist” on the Senate floor yesterday.

“This amendment is racist. I think it’s directed basically to people who speak Spanish,” the Democrat said during the already tense debate over immigration reform.

Since the idea of requiring immigrants to learn our language and assimilate into our culture is one of the most supported ideals in the country, Ried has just called every American who wants our English language to be respected a racist. As I have said many times before, if you want to beat a liberal, just let them talk. As with national security, they cannot stop themselves from exposing their true, deep felt feelings. When the leading Democrat goes out and personally insults 84% of the population (including 77% of latinos), you know this will be used over and over again in the run up to this fall’s elections.

Is Jimmy Hoffa going to finally be found, and the mystery of his death resolved? Seems there is a strong possibity. We will be watching how this transpires for sure.

Folks, since the twins’ request for attention caused me to prematurely publish this post, I am adding to it at the end and not ordering things as I normally would. Anyway, just in time to emphasize the Democrat’s and liberal media’s inattention to the seriousness of terrorism, we learn that a plot to take down a commercial jet liner in Europe was recently thwarted (probably by detecting the terrorists and listening in on their communications).

Being on the road I have to leave others to progress important topics (besides, they do so well why be redundant).  Clarice Feldman discusses Fitzgerald’s ever shrinking case against Libby.  John Stephenson discusses the news that Iran is definitely becoming the fourth Reich with its plan to force Jews and Christians to where badges to identify themselves.More on these topics and others once I can get back to a normal internet connection.

Have a great day!

So sorry to hear you have lost one close to you.

I wanted to comment on the English=Racism issue. It’s not true. Basically what the Democrats do is attempt to keep groups culturally isolated by creating such barriers to “melting pot” assimilation as “cultural diversity” and “celebrating heritage”. Providing things such as bi-lingualism allows one to go through their life never having to learn English which makes it more difficult for them to completely assimilate. It is segregation done on a very interesting level. It makes certain groups (usually groups that traditionally vote Democratic) more easilly maintain their distinct group dynamic for more than one generation.

There is an old saying that a good politician is one that would send you to hell and have you looking forward to the trip. That is what the Democrats do with their “cultural diversity” crap. If Hispanics vote mostly Democratic, it is in the Democrat’s interest to see that they maintain their cultural grouping and identification with the Democratic Party. So first they blow a lot of sunshine up your butt about how wonderful it is to be hispanic and how rich the language is and how awful the terrible Republican “racists” are to want to strip you of your language … and since nobody wants to HAVE to learn a new language … they all vote Democratic so they don’t have to. Then their kids go to school where they must not be forced to learn English lest they lose their culture and heritage (but what is really going on is that they might assimilate and like the rest of American, half might choose to become Republicans) so the Democrats vote in bi-lingual education (yay, Democrats!) so they don’t have to.

The entire ploy is to PREVENT people who speak certain languages from assimilating into the general American culture. Democrats are mostly worried about hispanics at this point. You don’t hear a big clamor for Arab bi-lingual education in Dearborn, Michigan or Chinese bi-lingual education in San Francisco. But you do hear things like Spanish bi-lingual and there was even an attempt in California to do the same thing with the black community with “Ebonics” or “Black English”. It is the bi-lingualism that is actually racist and is designed to prevent these cultures from assimilating and designed to keep them OUT of the mainstream and in their own little communities for generations.

The Democrats are selling them Apartheid and having them look forward to it!

As usual a smart, well informed nominee can run circles around bloated, preening senators. General Hayden probably should have been the nominee when Tenant left.
