How To Flumox Intellectually Lazy Liberals

Published by at 8:03 am under All General Discussions

Sarah Palin has discovered a great weapon against the left. Exclaim some little known fact (of which there are infinite varieties since the left’s knowledge is shallow, vague and all emotion and no fact) and then let the left implode in a fit of arrogant ignorance.

Sarah’s latest act of mental jujitsu was to exclaim a little known FACT about the ride of Paul Revere:

Palin’s short statement on the video was less than clear; that sometimes happens but the part of the statement which has people screaming — that Revere warned the British that the colonial militias were waiting — appears to be true.

I’ve learned something new today, about Paul Revere.

We all did. And we all should have been humbled to be reminded of a fact lost to our sound bite mentality. A quick look at Wikipedia would have answered any doubt as well:

evere did not shout the phrase later attributed to him (“The British are coming!”), largely because the mission depended on secrecy and the countryside was filled with British army patrols; also, most colonial residents at the time considered themselves British as they were all legally British subjects. Revere’s warning, according to eyewitness accounts of the ride and Revere’s own descriptions, was “The Regulars are coming out.”[8]

Revere was detained and questioned and then escorted at gunpoint by three British officers back toward Lexington.[10]

Some of the material I read noted that Revere was arrested and fed the British false information, including exaggerating the strength of the forces aligned to fight them. Palin was right, every left wing nut who used a Longfellow’s poem were wrong.

From Global Warming to 9-11 Truthers, the left is packed full of ignoramuses and their fictional beliefs. They don’t know the Earth has been cooling, or that outbreaks of Tornadoes are not from Warming, but due to cooling returning from northern latitudes (i.e., tornadoes spawn best when colder air dominates, not warm air). They don’t know most of the unrest in the Middle East was the result of energy policies that relied on food sources to fuel cars, resulting in higher food costs and protests in Egypt.

What the left does not understand is so long it would take years to list. So us poor dumb conservatives might as well begin, by laying one trap at a time and watching the fools rush in from the left.

There’s another amusing bit of trivia that’s mostly been overlooked because of Longfellow’s famous poem. A distant ancestor of mine, Dr. Samuel Prescott, was one of two men who accompanied Revere on his ride and who, due to superior horsemanship (okay, and better fleeing skills) was the only one of the three to actually make it to Concord that night with the warning.

This allows me to honestly quote Painless Potter (Bob Hope) in Paleface: “Why, brave men Run in my family!”

Actually, Revere DID warn the British troops that the citizens were arming themselves:

    In Paul Revere’s own words:

I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He imediately rode towards those who stoppd us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions, & if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above. He then orderd me to mount my Horse, after searching me for arms

Now, WWS, I’ve learned something new as well, regarding your grandfather. That was priceless, as well, equating it with the Bob Hope quote.

Its’ not just Liberals she is light years ahead of.
That genius Krauthammer would say that her syntax is not as purty as the Chitown teleprompter reader and he did actually say she needs to bone up on her history and educate herself on world affairs not be so itellectually incurious.
Never mind SourKraut that Sarah is the only candidate that went to India, Israel, Britian and met with the leaders of each.
I doubt the Kraut or that Toe Sucker Dick Morris or even the vaunted “genius in his own eyes only” OReilly, would have known the facts she just stated or would have been “intellectually curious enough” (SourKraut) to find out.

She scares the hell out of both parties because when she governed in Alaska she played no favorites she destroyed the corrupt insiders in both parties starting with the Repugnantcans.

Beware insiders theres’ a new sherriff in town and she has an army of pitchfork and torch weilding patriots ready, willing and able to throw the corrupt game players and big spenders out on their arses.

3 million facebook fans and building just waiting for the word to pick our pitchforks and torches and go to work. The work of tearing the DC Playhouse down and maning it with patriots not corrupt career politicians and their clingers on.

She’s done this before. At a Tea Party Rally before the 2010 elections she said, referring to the Boston Tea Party, “Don’t be thinking that we’ve got victory for America in the bag yet…We can’t party like it’s 1773.”

Assuming she meant 1776 I guess, Gwen Ifill and Markos Moulitsas, immediatly mocked Palin via twitter. Markos’s tweet was especially funny, “Sarah Palin to supporters: “Don’t party like it’s 1773 yet”. http://is.gd/g7rRb. She’s so smart.”

    Dear AJ and friends,

By fisking every attack with reasoned response you are falling into the trap. These people are do not live in an intellectual world, they live in the world of Saul Alinsky.

    4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.”

    5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.”

This is a Cloward-Piven thing. Overwhelm and distract the system so it is unable to cope. Their bread is not buttered by exhibiting sober judgements but by stirring controversy for ratings. They care nothing for truth or justice, except when it serves them.

I am getting a full and wonderful education from all these controversies. Every time an attack is made thoughtful, moral people refute it with compelling logic and history. I now understand more about The Revolutionary War than I was ever taught in school. It’s great for me personally, but it portends a grim futute.

    NEWSFLASH!

Portugal’s governing Socialist Party has admitted defeat in the general election.

Socialist leader Jose Socrates said he accepted responsibility for the defeat and resigned as head of his party.

The victorious centre-right Social Democrats (PSD) led by Pedro Passos Coelho are expected to form a majority with the conservative CDS.

Yet another European government moves to the right. Spain’s socialists were given a whipping last month in local elections, Ireland showed their Socialists the door. Now it is Portugal’s turn. The “progressive” movement is in global retreat.

  10. ivehadit says:

You are exactly right, Roy. They are making a mockery of us…feeding controversy after controversy to the public…FOR A PURPOSE. I have been watching this for quite a while because many of their actions made no sense…IF one were looking at this with logic and good intentions.

These people do not have HONORABLE intentions, imho. They create NOTHING, just take down whatever they doesn’t match their alinsky ideals…which is basically our Constitution and Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence!

Note to all well-meaning democrats: THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHER’S PARTY. It’s not even YOUR party anymore, imho.

  11. crosspatch says:

Dangit, that’s two in moderation in this thread. I suppose the system doesn’t like me anymore.

  12. oneal lane says:

I am not sure about this one. Even if she was proved to be factually somewhat correct, I was not impressed by her manner of response. Could not really tell what she was trying to convey.

The “real problem” is that she keeps falling for these kinds of gotcha traps. She needs wise up.

This reminds me of the early days of the Clinton administration when Gore and Clinton entered Monticello, and the room was full of busts of our founding fathers, Gores response was “who are these people” He is so darn smart!

  13. crosspatch says:

Well, part of it is that she is often has words put in her mouth. For example, the whole “I can see Russia from my back yard” that was actually said by an actress on SNL came to be attributed to Palin. And when you have a bunch of these fake “quotes” attributed to her, it makes it much worse when she actually flubs one.
