A Must Read For Parents
This post is simply stunning. The wife and I noticed how badly things had become as our two highly intelligent older kids were totally mistaught on fractions. We tutor our kids friends in the neighborhood (free of charge of course) in math and science all the time. And what is sad is it takes almost nothing to explain the material and they get it almost immediately. It is just not taught very well – and I am not blaming the teachers at all! We see one bad teacher in 20. It is the centralized standards – and no, I do not buy into the standards testing, it is the standardized, boring, unimaginative, unchallenging ciriculum.
