Bush To Congress: Back Off!

Published by at 1:41 am under All General Discussions,FISA-NSA

Republicans in Congress has a real dilemma. Do they attack their own party’s leader to stop our efforts to monitor possible Al Qaeda plans to attack us? Or do they get back into their box and recognize Article II of the Constitution and the fact we are at war. The Bush administration has decided to force Reps in Congress to chose: Either you are with Bush and the Party or you are against them:

The Bush administration is rebuffing requests from members of the Senate Judiciary Committee for its classified legal opinions on President Bush’s domestic spying program, setting up a confrontation in advance of a hearing scheduled for next week, administration and Congressional officials said Wednesday.

The Justice Department is balking at the request so far, administration officials said, arguing that the legal opinions would add little to the public debate because the administration has already laid out its legal defense at length in several public settings.

But the legality of the program is known to have produced serious concerns within the Justice Department in 2004, at a time when one of the legal opinions was drafted. Democrats say they want to review the internal opinions to assess how legal thinking on the program evolved and whether lawyers in the department saw any concrete limits to the president’s powers in fighting terrorism.

Bush just told Congress to make their own case on their own! Bully for him.

Ah yes, The Executive Branch spent taxpayer dollars to investigate a Constitutional issue, then told the Legislative Branch they have no right to the results. Go spend another bunch of taxpayer dollars to duplicate our work they were told…..
Duh! I’m begining to believe AJ is a closet Fascist since you NEVER disagree with teh current regime violating the Constitution and ignoring the Checks and Balances system.

    Observer,

You are a guest here and I appreciate we do not agree. But you need to keep it civil or you will have the honor of being the first person I ban from here.

I disagree a lot with Bush, but not on the big things. In fact, he and I agree on how to handle illegal immigration, which puts me at odds with most conservatives.

But given what the left has to offer there is no debate – the left has nothing. Zilch. Just anger.

    I second AJ.

But expect it to get ugly.

The Left/Dems stepped in it with this issue and they know.

So they will increase the volume, the conspiracies, and just
    stampede to the cliff edge.

Hasn’t anyone else thought that “Wilie Coyote” should replace
    the Jackass as their logo?
