The Obama Slide Continuing

Published by at 7:38 am under 2010 Elections,All General Discussions

I am sure team Obama and his cronies will think of something to run through the news media (like another Nobel Prize) to try and lift Obama’s sagging support, but I think they are coming to the end of their bag of tricks.

Its still the economy, stupid.

As Ace and Ed Morrissey note, Obama (and more than likely the Dems in Congress who are the most unpopular again) are losing ground across the board with Americans. Here is a compendium of Rassmussen numbers (original source):

moe

As Morrissey notes, Rassmussen polls likely voters. The only thing the Dems did not lose ground on is immigration (hint, hint GOP – don’t follow the Amnesty Hypochondriacs over another political cliff). The Dems have to be worried about those rising in opposition to their government rationed health care. At least the ones who are paying attention.

The far left is in the classic, mindless grip of power. All they see is the holy grail of socialized health care. They don’t want to see or could care less about the fact they are heading down a path the American voters will make sure is completely undone by 2010. Don’t think Americans would throw enough GOP votes in to over ride a veto? All depends on how much you anger the voters.

As Rassmussen is seeing in his daily presidential approval index, the number of people who Strongly Disapprove (e.g., are going to get out and vote come hell or high water) is now up at 40%. The Strongly Approve is down to 28%.

I get the feeling in my bones the nation is about to take another step in realizing their young new President, with all the Hope & Change from 2008, is really a far left ideologue. If not that, they will come to the conclusion he and his allies don’t represent their interests, or their view of America. It will be the America who love America against the Americans who love Europe and/or Moa.

The attacks on Fox News recently, with the not so subtle warning to other news outlets to not go afoul of the administration in the same manner, has woken some people out of their daze. There is a real fear out there now, that the liberals want to take America someplace no one expected or wants. People are edgy and angry. But once they realize there is a ground swell of the grass roots that will clean out DC, they will turn that angst into determination and join that wave.

If Obama’s “Strongly Approve” drops to 25% and his “Strongly Disapprove” goes to 45%, and Congress stays in the pathetic 20% approval rating zone, there will be enough new faces in DC to undo anything done by this out of control Congress.

I fail to see how the nation going through Thanksgiving and Christmas with the unemployment and underemployment creeping higher than it is now is going to stop that from happening. Anything could happen of course, but a huge momentum is now rolling forward, and staged PR stunts will not stop it from its course.

So you raise a trillion dollars to pay for Health care, half from those on Medicare the other half from the “rich”. Then you need the “rich” to pay down the debt, so you raise taxes again. Then you let the Bush taxes expire on the “rich”, the states are still in the red big time, so they continue to raise taxes on the “rich”. Does someone really think that the “rich” are going to hire those out of jobs? Gosh, who will be left for Obama demonize? Well I guess there will always be Israel.

Imagine what it would be if the MSM wasn’t still talking all about Unicorns and Skittles.

  4. AJ,

The Obama administration and Democrats lost the publics trust when they attacked ordinary Americans a’la Ailinsky — those of the public who were concerned enough to even think about expressing their concerns — at health care town halls for expressing those concerns.

This changed the political subject with those Americans from health care to “>Bleep< you and the horse you rode in on."

Those concerned citizens, and those who share their views, know they were diss'd and are now outright alienated.

AKA "They ain't listenin' ta ya, laddie."

It no longer matters what Obama, the Democratic Party & the Leftist proponents of socialized medicine say.

Trust and respect have to go both ways. The Obama & the Left wing Democratic party made it plain they do not trust and respect ordinary Americans.

The recent polls you and Instapundit have been quoting now reflect that alienation from Obama and the Democratic Party.

Now it's coming time for the Left to take what's coming to it.

Gallup Poll: Drop in Obama’s Approval Rating One Of The Largest In Decades

In fact, the 9-point drop in the most recent quarter is the largest Gallup has ever measured for an elected president between the second and third quarters of his term, dating back to 1953. One president who was not elected to his first term — Harry Truman — had a 13-point drop between his second and third quarters in office in 1945 and 1946

Flash from the past (still disagree with you on this one issue, AJ):

Republicans have been leading on the immigration bill ever since the Dems and Bush tried to push amnesty:

Following Immigration Debate, Number of Republicans in USA Increases
    Sunday, July 01, 2007

“The immigration debate appears to have helped the Republican Party while hurting the President and other supporters of the “comprehensive” reform legislation. Prior to the debate, 47% of voters trusted Democrats more on the immigration issue. Following the failure of the Senate bill, just 39% trust the Democrats more on the issue. In fact, among unaffiliated voters, Republicans are now trusted more than the Democrats on immigration. The only other issue where the GOP can make that claim is national security. ”
