Contempt Of The Family
RCP has an excellent find on what is wrong with the dwindling Democrat party. It is their utter contempt for the American family, and that indespinsible anchor to the family: Mom. Our family would not be much of a family if left up to me. The blog obsessed, once rock band obsessed, once work obsessed, once dart league obsessed, once ‘night out with the guys’ obsessed person I am would probably had raised a bunch of fast food eating, TV watching, life meandering kids if left to my own devices. Mom drags us out to do the coolest things from Disney trips to nights around a board game. And what does Mom hear from the Democrat Party? I’ll let RCP explain it:
Time Magazine has an article by Caitlin Flanagan, a traditional, stay-at-home mom:
I am a 44-year-old woman who grew up in Berkeley who has never once voted for a Republican….But despite all that, there is apparently no room for me in the Democratic Party. In fact, I have spent much of the past week on a forced march to the G.O.P. And the bayonet at my back isn’t in the hands of the Republicans; the Democrats are the bullyboys.
…
In the middle of doing the great work of the ’60s–civil rights, women’s liberation, gay inclusion–we decided to stigmatize the white male. The union dues–paying, churchgoing, beer-drinking family man got nothing but ridicule and venom from us. So he dumped us. And he took the wife and kids with him.
Contempt. That is exactly the right word. If there is one line that might make it impossible for Hillary Clinton to be elected President it is this gem, “You know, I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas.” And the written words don’t do justice in portraying the contempt in Hillary’s voice for “traditional” women who happened to have made a choice to stay at home and raise a family.
You can take that to the bank from an ex-democrat whose family was hard core Democrat from the days when Granpa was a Democrat US Congressman from Democrat Ohio, and from his ex-democrat, ex-California wife who cannot fathom raising a family in Democrat run California. The contempt is mutual.
My family didn’t leave the Democrat Party, it left us.
Mostly, people like myself left because we were insulted, then alienated, then could no longer recognize the Party that we thought should represent us.
Doggonit Patch, you beat me to the punch line!
As you can all tell, I rarely have time to catch up on AJ’s blog, much less comment on it. However, this post has me smiling to see that I’m appreciated by AJ 🙂 and growling to hear this kind of cr*p again from the Dems.
Thank goodness for the men who understand that many of us DO appreciate them, love them dearly, and know that our families would not be the same without all their hard work, not to mention the beer-obsessed, crazy little boy fun they include us in as well.
